Ann received her doctorate from the Department of Performance Studies at New York University. She is a dance historian with strong interests in movement analysis and cultural studies. Before coming to UNCG, Ann taught at Columbia University, Ohio State University , Ohio University and Colorado College. She is a past President of the Congress on Research in dance. Ann Dils, PhD, is a dance historian with strong interests in movement analysis and cultural studies. She received a PhD from the Department of Performance Studies at New York University in 1993. At UNCG, she teaches courses in dance history, appreciation, and research and writing, advises sophomore-senior BA students, and works with MA students interested in dance history, dance criticism, and cultural studies. Dr. Dils is co-editor (with Ann Cooper Albright) of Moving History/Dancing Cultures, a dance history reader (2001). Her writing appears in Dance Research Journal, the Korean Journal of Dance Studies, Journal of Physical Education, Recreation and Dance, and Performing Arts Journal. Dr. Dils is a past president of the Congress on Research in Dance.
