Description
Julie Brodie
Julie Brodie joined the dance program at Kenyon College in 2002 after teaching for six years at Franklin and Marshall College. Professionally, she performed, taught, and choreographed in the Chicago area, working with several companies, including Chicago Dance Medium, Dancewerks, Zephyr Dance Ensemble, and Industrial Theatre Productions. Brodie also worked as a dance artist in inner city Chicago schools with Whirlwind Performance Company. While teaching in Lancaster, Brodie worked with The Née Danse Company in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, the Grant Street Dance Company in Lancaster, and the Lancaster Ballet, in addition to presenting her work and performing regularly at local theaters. The American College Dance Festival Association has recognized Brodie's choreography with an award for outstanding artistic achievement, and her work has been supported by grants from the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts. Currently, she is dancing with the Columbus-based HighJinks Dance Company, and she is collaborating with visual artist Marcella Hackbardt on a piece to inaugurate the new facilities at Franklin and Marshall College. Brodie's research interests are in Labanotation and utilizing reconstructions to cross cultural boundaries and in methods for applying dance kinesiology to teaching technique.JulieBrodie Gifts
