Kathleen Aharoni is the owner of Water over Stone, Chicago, and co-director of Movement Education, Inc., where she trains individuals in Pilates, GYROTONIC® and GYROKINESIS®. She also has a Feldenkrais® practice that specializes in work with dancers, athletes, persons with chronic pain and those in life transitions. For more than two decades, Kathleen has guided people of all ages, children through older adults, in finding self-awareness, self-expression, mobility, functionality, fitness and joy through movement. Kathleen has a B.A. in dance from Columbia College, Chicago, and holds certifications in GYROTONIC®, GYROKINESIS®, Feldenkrais® and Polestar™ Pilates. She has also completed her Level I training in Cranial Sacral Therapy from the Upledger Institute as well as training in Thai/Yoga Body Work from Open Secrets, Chicago. Kathleen has taught on the part-time and full-time faculty at Columbia College. Among the courses she has taught are: Conditioning for Dancers -- Pilates; Body Tune-Up and Conditioning; and Experiential Anatomy. She has also taught modern dance technique at Columbia College and New Trier High School. Kathleen is founder of the GYROTONIC® community in Chicago and as such she leads and organizes teacher trainings in GYROTONIC® and GYROKINESIS®. Through Movement Education, Kathleen trains and certifies instructors in Pilates mat and equipment work, emphasizing functionality and awareness.
