Description
Laurie Abramson
Laurie Abramson received her training at the Joffrey Ballet School and holds B.A. and M.A. degrees from New York University. She has also studied with Alfredo Corvino, David Howard and at The New Dance Group.
In addition to her work in the Program in Theatre and Dance, Ms. Abramson currently teaches ballet at the Princeton Ballet School, works with fine arts students in a collaborative program between Rider University and Princeton Ballet, is a teaching artist for the American Repertory Ballet Institute, and implemented and continues to teach at the dance program at Stuart Country Day School. Additional credits include work at Mason Gross School of the Arts (Rutgers University), Southern New Jersey Academy of the Performing Arts/Brandywine Ballet, and master classes taught at (among other places) the American College Dance Festival, the Figaro Project for the Institute for Arts and Humanities (reconstructing 18th Century dances), the Summer Arts Institute, and the Acrodance Theatre Company. She has served as a dance evaluator for the New Jersey State Council on the Arts and the Union County Arts Grant Committee. She also teaches Pilates classes, where she is a certified mat instructor.
Ms. Abramson's choreography includes works for Princeton Ballet II, musical theatre, the Acrodance Theatre Company, the Princeton Unitarian Church and the Opera Theatre of New Jersey. Her works have appeared throughout the metropolitan area as well as in England, and most recently her work has been performed at the George Street Playhouse in New Brunswick. In addition, Ms. Abramson has staged numerous works from the classical ballet repertoire for Princeton Ballet II, including Coppelia, Paquita and Bournoville Divertissements.
