Professor Torijano received her training at the National University of Costa Rica and danced in Danza Una, the resident professional company of the National University. Her principal teacher was Elena Gutierrez. Ms. Torijano then became a soloist with The National Dance Company of Costa Rica. She has performed extensively throughout Mexico, Puerto Rico, the United States and South America. She is a teacher of contemporary dance technique for the National Workshop of Costa Rica and has conducted several workshops in collaboration with her husband Bill De Young throughout both the USA and Latin America. Ms. Torijano is also a master teacher of Latin American dance styles, and has taught master classes and set Suite from Canto America on the dance students at The Institut del Teatre in Barcelona, Spain. Suite from Canto America was selected to be on the "Gala" at the American College Dance Association Regional Festival at Wayne State University and was also chosen by the jury to be presented at the American College Dance Festival National presentation in College Park, Maryland.
