Tricia Henry Young, Ph.D. (NYU Performance Studies) is Professor of Dance History and Director of the American Dance Studies program at Florida State University. She has published in the Journal of Popular Culture, Dance Research Journal, Performing Arts Resources, Dance Research (London), Dance/USA, The Florida Anthropological Quarterly, and the Florida Flambeau. Her book Break All Rules: Punk Rock and the Making of a Style was nominated for the Ralph J. Gleason Music Book Award. She is also author of two historic costume catalogues: The Killinger Collection: Costumes of Denishawn and Ted Shawn and His Men Dancers and The Hanya Holm Collection. Dr. Young is the founder and director of the international Dance History Teachers Discussion Group, and co-founder of Library Without Walls: The George Washington Project, a partnership between FSU American Dance Studies and the Jerome Robbins Dance Division of the New York Public Library. She formerly served on the Board of Directors of the Congress on Research in Dance (CORD), and as a consultant to the National College Choreography Initiative, a partnership between Dance/USA and the National Endowment for the Arts. Dr. Young is currently a member of the Board of Directors of the Society of Dance History Scholars (SDHS); a member of the Editorial Board of CORD; and a reviewer for the Fulbright Senior Scholars Program.
